_20180817_133903

This excursion takes you for a walk from a small border village Näätämö. By foot you get to see how the various arctic nature changes on the way from the bottom of Näätämö valley to high up to Christmas Mountain.

Walk is 10 km long in total and it is as a full day trip. On the way to the mountain, guide leads you past good lake trout waters and through various types of relaxing forests. On top of the Mountain we make fire, eat local food, rest and enjoy the views. From up there you can see three countries; Finland, Norway and Russia.

Good to know

  • This is an arctic area so you need to be prepared for cold and hot weather. It is good to have a warm windproof hat and a cap, sun glasses, gloves, scarf, windproof jacket, warm sweater, long pants with wool under and splash proof  shoes.
  • Sometimes here’s pretty intense mosquito amounts, so bring your own repellent. Just in case the guide has netting in the backpack if repellent isn’t enough.
  • Mosquitoes and other similar insects are the only wildlife you need to worry about. At most of the trips we meet wild reindeer herds, but they are harmless.
  • Normal physical level is enough. Inform if you require special diet.
